Dosirak Design: Bokki as Better Bento

TL;DR
Lunchbox logic from Korean dosirak — bokkeumbap holds less well than japchae, so design for it.
Bokkeumbap in a dosirak needs moisture management. Pack it at room temp after a 5-minute uncovered cool so steam escapes; sealing hot rice sweats and returns you to clumped rice by noon.
Structure the box: bokkeumbap in one compartment, jeyuk or eomuk-bokki in another, kimchi in a tiny sealed cup so its brine never pools into rice. Separation is the lunch; mixing is the failure.
Pick fried rice types that hold. Kimchi bokkeumbap holds best (acid firms), spam bokkeumbap second, egg-only worst because uncovered egg weeps. If you must pack egg bokkeumbap, make it 20% drier and include a perilla leaf barrier underneath.
For kids, press bokkeumbap into triangles or balls (jumeok-bap) with a little extra sesame oil so they eat with hands; the compressed shape reduces surface area that dries out and makes chopstick logistics vanish.
Include a tiny thermos of miyeok-guk or eomuk broth instead of trying to keep bokkeumbap saucy. Sauce on the side beats sauce that sat on rice for 4 hours — the pairing keeps lunch comforting without compromising grain texture.
